Instructor: Electra Pelias

Friday | July 31, 2026 | 12:30-4:30 pm | beginners | $75 | cyanotype | Falls Church Arts Gallery

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the cyanotype process on fabric, a historic photographic technique known for its rich blue tones. Students will learn how to work with cyanotype chemicals, create compositions using natural materials and found objects, along with printed photos on film. and expose their designs using sunlight or UV light. The class emphasizes experimentation, layering, and personal expression, resulting in unique textile pieces that can function as art objects or be sewn into wearable works. The instructor will show the participants how to use the chemicals but also provide pre-treated fabrics; that way the workshop can be done in a couple hours.
