Learn to paint still lifes, landscapes, and portraits loosely with confident brush strokes! Take a step-by-step approach to alla prima (“all at once”) oil painting. You will paint directly from observation, starting and finishing a painting in one sitting, one brush stroke at a time. Students will work from various sources, including from life, sketches, and photos. You will learn the importance of black-and-white studies to creating brilliant color and how to compose and work with color.
Experience the power of warms and cools, complementary color, simplifying, loosening brushwork, and elements of design. Each class will have demos and notes. After each class, students will be provided a recorded video for review.
*The instructor works primarily in oil but welcomes acrylic artists.
