Constance Phelps

Constance (Connie) Phelps was Design Director and a Senior Editor for National Geographic Magazine for 30 years. She studied fine arts and architectural design at the University of Maryland as well as photojournalism and graphic arts at George Washington University. She has judged photographic exhibitions at the Cosmos Club of Washington and helped National Geographic Magazine photographers select their works for submission to the annual White House Press Photographers’ competition. She has also judged shows for Communications Arts, a visual arts publication, and local school art contests.
