Untitled 2021
This piece is about the black gaze and the intersection of the built environment in which the black body is living. Drawing inspiration from the work of Tina Campt. Transforming thoughts, feelings, and sounds; shapes crossing over, transcending and breaking boundaries of our imagination and non-existence into vox populi, this exhibit floats convention and by borrowing the words of Kojo Abudu, to ask ?What is blackness? Can you imagine blackness otherwise, divorced from oppressive socio-politico-economic categories which the Black body is subject to?
