My Identity as an Adoptee
I started this piece by writing on the canvas about my journey as an adoptee. I added circles that I cut from the many documents I have related to my adoption, including my very strange birth certificate that had no info other than my name and date of birth, a letter from a lawyer, my adoption decree, heritage information from the adoption agency, and the first letters I received from my birthmom and dad after I found them in 1993. I treasure knowing my full story and believe having information about yourself is a human right.
