Academic drawing was born in Italy and is still considered the basis of any painting. The goal of academic drawing is to analyze a 3-D shape and render it on paper as a 2-D image. This isn’t a simple copying of geometric shapes, but rather the ability to think analytically and recreate the complex shapes of objects from simple geometric shapes. The course is based on the excellent teaching methodology personally developed by Irina Smitchkova which has given many students fundamental knowledge of academic drawing.
Iryna Smitchkova is a professional artist, instructor and book illustrator. She holds an Academic Art diploma with a major in watercolor. Today she works in different fields and techniques such as oil, acrylic, ink, pencil, sanguine and more. What inspires her? She tries to answer this question with certainty. Sometimes it is people, sometimes nature, smells, sensations, feelings, or experiences.
Having completed a classical art education, she continues to study and discovers something new every day. Iryna has participated in many international symposia as well as solo and group exhibitions in different parts of the world. Her works are shown in private collections all over Europe, Africa, and America.
