I am a self-taught abstract figurative painter from Munich currently based in Arlington. I work predominately with acrylic, although I occasionally incorporate oil pastels and ink into my pieces too. My subject is the female form, which I translate into stylized portraits that exude strength and sensuality. My style is strongly influenced by Picasso, Tamara de Lempicka and German Expressionism. I love playing with opposites, hence conveying the complex facets of feminine energy. Strong brushstrokes meet soft lines, edgy contours seemingly clash with sensuous lips. I work intuitively and in the moment, quite often with an unclear vision of the final outcome. This liberal process is wonderfully freeing as well as challenging. For me it is the most profound way to express and connect.
